Snow White Movie Review: Is it the Fairest of Them All?

     

  From the seven dwarves, the huntsman stole the spotlight in the adaptation of the classical fairy tale story loved by many of us Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs , Walt Disney presents Snow White and the Hunstman with a twist.

Snow White and the Huntsman: Is it the Fairest of Them all?

ght star Kristen Stewart and The Avengers’ Thor, Chris Hemsworth together with the beautiful Charize Theron led the Walt Disney’s live action of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. 

       Even though the movie was casted by great actors and actresses, critics are always present. Questions were formed, would you say Kristen Stewart is fairer over Charize Theron as the evil queen Ravenna? Or would this movie satisfy Thor and The Avengers supporters in Chris Hemsworth different role?

       Like any other movies, there were negative and positive points. They were successful to put up visual effects to support the movie’s theme. The setting were accurate and astonishingly beautiful. The actors’ performance were also great. Especially Theron’s top performance perfectly nailing the murderous vanity of her character.

       The film began with Ravenna’s rise to the throne as she arranged a plot against King Magnus. Despite his valiant’s efforts, they were no match with the queen’s dark magic and the assistance of her brother Finn ( Sam Spruell ).

       When chaos emerged in their kingdom, the princess, Snow White was locked up in the dungeon for years without the reason explained in the film.

      Ravenna drains the life force of the kingdom’s most beautiful ladies to sustain her youth. Their place fell to despair.

      With their different version of the mirror(covered man coming out from a metal) whom Ravenna is asking the famous line “ Mirror mirror on the wall, whose the fairest of them all “. The queen got to know that Snow White’s heart is her key to immortality. Fortunately, the princess managed to escape.

     There goes the Chris Hemsworth as the huntsman, Eric ordered to capture Snow White. Eventually he decided to help the lady escape. Then they met Prince William ( Sam Claflin ) Snow White’s long lost childhood friend. Finally the eight dwarves. Yes you read it right 8. Why? I don’t really know. Sadly, huntsman was successful to overthrown them to their fame. The director even let the other dwarf to die making them seven.  Some of the names were also unknown.

      The filmmakers’ backstory was quite disappointing. For example, it is unrealistic for Eric who was able to resurrect Snow White with his kiss that we all know must be a true love which in the first place, the huntsman was still grieving for his wife’s death. Also for Prince William who was set aside for the whole film. Originally, his role in the story is to bring Snow White back to life, why would they take that away from him? The newfound affection between Snow White and the Huntsman was the biggest yet unsurprising revelation in the story. Yes, huntsman is the title character but we can conclude that it just a favour for the actor who is Thor. I feel sorry for Prince William even though I liked the idea in making Chris Hemsworth as the leading man ( I just love Thor ! ).

      Admittedly, this modernized story of Snow White was not perfectly made yet still loveable. Snow White and the Huntsman might not be the fairest of them all but it is still worth spending more than two hours with having fun watching. It also provides interesting tweaks and has an impact to the viewers.

    Sa isang bukirin sa bandang Visayas sa Pilipinas makikita ang magkababatang si Efren at Marga. Sabay silang lumaki sa lugar kaya’t nasanay na sila na parating kasama ang isa’t isa.  ANg iniisip na nga rin ng kanilang mga magulang ay silang dalawa na ang magkaibigan pagdating ng araw.

Marga: Balang araw magkakaroon din ako ng ganito kagarang bahay. Haaay. Parang ang sarap sarap tumira dito. Buhay prinsesa.

Efren: Asa ka pa.  Hanggang bukid ka na lang no. Taas ng pangarap mo!

Marga: Aba! Ano naman bang masama sa pangarap kong ito. Makikita mo magiging Donya rin ako sa isang malaking mansion.

Efren: Sige. Sabi mo eh.

Marga: Efren, hindi ka ba nagsasawa sa buhay dito? Buong buhay na lang ba tayo magtatanim?

Efren: Bakit? Anong problema sa pagtatanim? Tayo kaya ang nagsusuplay ng mga pagkain sa bayan at mga lungsod. Kung wala tayo walang kakaining sariwang gulay yang mga mayayaman nay an. Saka napakarangal ng trabahong ito.

Marga: Alam mo ba ang pangarap ko? Nais kong maging tulad ng isang ibon. Malaya sa paglipad. Malaya makapunta sa iba;t ibang lugar. Malaya akong gawin ang mga nais ko. Basta ba’y ipapagaspas ko lang ang mga pakpak ko ng maayos at makarating sa tamang lugar.

Efren: Mas maganda siguro kung puno na lang. Kung nasaan ka doon ka na lang. Hindi ka pa mahihirapan na hanapin ang sarili mo at lumipad. Doon sa lugar lang kung saan ka nakatanim ka nabuhay at doon ka na rin mamamatay. Simple lang ang buhay. Nasapaligd mo na kasi ang mga pangunahing kailangan mo.

Aling Carmen: Marga, anak tara na’t mag meryenda isama mo na si Efren.

Marga: Ewan ko saiyo Efren. Kainis ka. Imbis na palakasin mo ang loob ko sa pangarap ko.

(Umalis si Marga. Dumating naman si  Simeon at kinausap ang binata)

Simeon:  Hindi mo mapipigilan ang kaibigan mo sa kanyang pangarap.  Ayaw mo bang magtagumpay siya sa buhay niya.

Efren: Hindi naman sa tutol ako sa nais niya. Ang sa akin lang bakit kailangan niya pang umalis dito sa atin at makipagsapalaran sa magulong lungsod. Hindi na ba iya kuntento sa buhay natin dito? Masaya naman diba kuya?

Simeon: Yan lang ba yon?

Efren: Oo. Bakit meron pa ba dapat?

Simeon: ALam ko Efren kaya mo siya pinipigilan dahil takot ka ng maiwan, Ayaw mo ng maulit ang pag iwan satin ni itay at inay. Pero hindi mo hawak ang buhay ni Marga.

       Naiwang tahimik si Efren sa mga sinabi ng kuya. Totoo naman kasi ang lahat ng iyon. Iniwan kasi sila ng mga magulang nila para mag trabaho sa bayan at hindi na nakabalik pa. Sa nanay na lang ni Marga na si Aling Carmen sila nannirahan.

Aling Carmen: Dumating na pala si Donya Michelle diyan sa mansyon. Kasama niya ata ang mga anak niya.

Simeon: Tiya Carmen hindi ba siya yung babaeng gusto bumili ng lupa natin?

Aling: Oo Simeon. Sna lang wala na silang interes sa lupa natin.

Efren: Yung babaeng yon! Subukan niya lang pumunta sa lupa natin sasalubungin ko na agad siya ng itak. Hindi niya tayo mapipilit na ipagbali tong lupa natin.

Aling Carmen: Haha. Tama ka Efren. Patatayuan lang naman nila ito ng mga subdivision.

Marga: Haaay. Ang swerte talaga ng mga anak ni Donya Michele ano? Ang gagara ng mga damit. Siguro sa pribadong paaralan pa nag aaral yang mga yan.

Efren: Ha?? Pano naman tayo napunta sa anak niya?

     Hindi pala nakikinig si Marga sa pinaguusapan ng nanay kanina. Nakatitig lang siya sa mansyon na tanaw mula sa bukid nila. Hindi nila namalayan na paparating na pala ang Donya sa lugar nila.

Simeon: Anong ginagawa niyo rito?

Joana: Huwag kayong mag-alala bumibisita lang naman kami no.

Edgar: Hindi na kami pumunta rito para pagpilitang bilhin tong kapirasong lupa niyo. Diba mama?

Donya Michelle: We’ve come here for peace. Nais lang naman naming siguruhin na malapit ng kunin ng bangko itong lupang ito.

Carmen: Kunin ng bangko? Anong ibig nyong sabhin?

Efren: Pano naman kukunin ng bangko ito? Hindi naman kanila ito ah. Amin ito.

Joana: Kawawa naman pala kayo. Wala kayong kaalam alam na mawawala na itong lupang ito sa inyo. Wala pa kayong makukuha.

Donya Michelle: Pero may maganda rin naman kaming balita. Edgar sabihin mo sa kanila.

Edgar; Yes mother ! SI Marga kasi. Kilala sa paaralan nila at isa sa mga nangunguna sa klase. Atsaka gusto namin na isali ka sa scholarship program namin.

Marga: A-ako?? A-ako ba yun?

Joana: OO naman no.! Ano payag ka na?

Efren: Hindi siya sasali!

Mich: Bakit naman ikaw ang nagpapasya?

Edgar: Oo nga ! ano mo ba siya?

Efren: W-wala. Basta hindi niya tatanggapin yang alok niyo!

Marga: Sino ka para pangunahan ako? Ikaw ba magdedesisyon para sa akin? Ang galing mo naman! Dinaig mo ang nanay ko!

Efren: Pero Marga.

Marga: Nay? Pwde ko ho bang tanggapin?? Please?

Carmen: Kung iyan ang gusto mo wala akong magagwa!

Marga: YEHEY! Haha!! Sabi ko saiyo Efren magiging mayaman din ako.

     Hindi na lang nakaimik si Efren. Pero baka pa rin sa mukha niya ang pagkadismaya.

Mich: Magaling. Pero Marga kailangan mong sa lungsod tumira. Para malapit lang sa paaralan. Huwag kang mag-alala ako ang bahala sa gastusin.

      Lungkot na lungkot si Efren. Pakiramdam niya kasi nauulit na naman ang nangyari sa kanila noon. Subalit hindi niya ito mapigilan. Ayaw niya rin kasing magalit ito sa kanya.

     DI nagtagal umalis na sa buid si Marga para tumungo sa lungsod. Hindi alam ni Efren kung kalian ito babalik.

Marga: Hoy Efren ! Baka kalimutan mo ko ah !!!!!!! Babalik din ako ! Pagbalik ko mayaman na ako!

Efren: Sige. Iguraduhin mo lang,

Marga:Nay, alis na po ako. Susulat na ang po ako.

Carmen: Sige, Mag-ingat ka roon ah.

    Makalipas ng 7 taon. Walang balita si Efren kay Marga. Hindi siya sumusulat. Nawalan na siya ng pag-asa na babalik pa ito.

Simeon: Lalim ng iniisip ah.

Efren: Kaarawan niya ngayon

Simeon: Puntahan mo doon sa loob si Tiya Carmen.

  Sinunod naman ito ni Efren.

Efren: Tiya Carmen? Umiiyak ka po?

  May inabot sa  kanyang sulat ang umiiyak na babae.

Dear Inay,

        Nay. Ang hirap po ng buhay dito sa Maynila. Ang hirap ngtrabaho ng isang nurse. Parati akong puyat. Sayang inay no? Hindi ako makauwe sa kaarawan ko. Hindi pa kasi tapos bayaran ang utang natin kay Donya Michelle eh. Pero malapit na naman po. Kaunting tiis na lang.

        Namimissko na po kayo. Yung Bukid natin. Yng  Sariwang hangin. Dito kasi puro usok ng sasakyan. Si Kuya Simeon pati si Efren miss ko na rin.

       Siya nga pop ala, huwag niyo ulit sabhin kay Efren ito ah. Baka asarin ako nun eh. Wala pa rin kasi yung pinangako ko sa kanya na mansyon ko. Pakisabi rin po na ang pangarap kong magng ibon ay natupad subalit nagkataon lang na mayroong nakahuli sa ibong ito’t nabilanggo. Pero huwag siyang mag-alala dahil kaunit na lang makakalaya na ako. At sana sa pagbalik ng ibong ito nadoon pa rin ang isang puno na may simpleng pamumuhay, wlang gaanong paghahangad.

      Yun lang po ! Bye po ! I Love You!

Carmen: Nangutang si Marga kay Donya Michelle ng malaking halaga upang mabayaran natin iitong lupa galing sa bangko. Kaya hindi ito nakuah sa atin. Si Marga rin ang nagbabayad nito. Kaya hindi siya makauwe dahil hindi pa niya tapos bayaran. Kawawa naman ang anak ako.

Computer Addict

After school or work, where do most of us go? Of course, computer!! Not for research, work or study. But for online games, blogs and social websites. I admit that I am one of them!

A long time ago people are spending their leisure time doing house activities such as cleaning, weaving, washing, etc. Due to the advance technology and high-tech thinking of the people, they have invented the computer to helps us do work easily. Later on, internet is also invented. It helps us connect with other people in the world.As time passed, computer is not just for work but also for games. Application softwares began to come out. Such as DOTA, Counter Strike, etc.

But people are enjoying it too much. They spend their most of their time in front of the screen. The students cannot be seen handling a pencil nor a pen. But they are handling a mouse or a keyboard. They can be seen renting a PC in a computer shop paying a large amount just for their games. Isn't it too much? The number of students that can be seen on act handling a book for studying are fingered. They prefer to play games and open their accounts in such social websites which is more enjoying and exciting, according to them. I honestly admit, I am one of them. But not in the critical stage, only mild ^^

These are the levels in being a COMPUTER ADDICT

Level 1 (moderate) >> Spending 1 - 2 hours in front of the screen
                           (playing online games or social networks)
Level 2 (mild)       >> Spending 3 -4 hours in the   hot seat
                            (madly serious playing)
Level 3 (severe)    >> Spending 4 - 5 hours laying their palm in the mouse
                 (seriously enjoying games, didn't have time to eat or urinate)
Level 4 (Super Critical) >> Spending 6 hours and so on in the screen seated in the hot seat and seriously   putted palms in the mouse
                        (seriously in love with the computer, spending 24 hours in the Comp Shop w.o standing or
                         moving)

Pink!

Just because I love pink, it doesn't mean that I'm not strong, it doesn't mean that I am flirt. It's just the way I want to show myself. Isn't it right?

A color pink has a lot of meaning to others. For others it's just a color for the "kikay" ones.For others it's just for the people who has a high standing in the social life or for those "social climber". But I'm not one of them. An Enjoyable Field Trip

An Enjoyable Field Trip

Gora! Gora! One of the most astonishing field trip I ever had so far! From start to the end, I'd enjoyed my P 700.00 trip.

I woke up 4:30 in the morning that day and I and my sister reached the school at exactly 5:20 a.m. But, wait! I forgot to bring my waiver. So, I get immediately went home and get my waiver. Then, on my way back my phone is full of messages that they are already in the bus. Thanks God that I reached the bus on time. With my seat mate Clarisse, we chat together while on the way to AFP Museum, our first destination. We had a wonderful time laughing with my other classmates and our adviser. Finally, we reach our first destination. I'm a little disappointed because no cameras our allowed inside. But when we enter the door that feeling was gone. We have some fun looking at the medals, guns, uniforms, tanks and the helicopters outside.

Next top, Quezon Shrine. In that place we discovered that the 3 angels represent Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The three posts represents the 3 times he was buried. The 66 feet tall posts represents his age when he died. And the equilateral triangle shape of the shrine represents birth, life and death. The presidential furniture, gifts, and many more can be found there. The remains of the 2^nd President together with the remains of Mrs. Aurora Quezon, widow of the president, were solemnly reinterred in the memorial. At the Quezon Memorial Circle we took our lunch and after it, we excitedly went to Enchanted Kingdom, the most awaiting part of that trip!

Finally, we reach Enchanted Kingdom at Sta. Rosa Laguna. We immediately enter the park as soon as we get our ticket. At first I and my classmates don't know where to ride because all the rides had a long line. We decided to ride Rio Grande Rapids. We've been in the line for almost 2 hours. But when it's our turn I got wet first and even my jacket got wet. That ride was so fun! We got terribly wet so we decided to go to Jungle Log Jam where we can get wet too. Our adviser saw us so he joined us. After 20 years of waiting, it's our turn. That ride is very high. I think my heart is still on the top and I left it there. Love that ride! As the time runs, more people are coming. The lines for the rides got even longer. So I decided to seat and watch my classmates on the ride. I go back to our bus to change my clothes and we looked for our teacher because the PTA President is looking for them. On our way back we have witnessed the fireworks. It was very beautiful. Sad to say, after those beautiful fireworks we have to go home.

After not less than an hour way home we have reached BNHS. That trip I've experience will be the happiest event in my life this year. I enjoyed it very much. I hope that will happen again.

Sun-Earth-Moon System, sounds exciting and full of information topic. I thought it will be a hard discussion but after a few weeks I knew that I was wrong.

This topic is about the relationship of the three. It involves eclipse, tides, seasons and phases of the moon. Me and my classmates didn't find it boring because of the activities our teacher gave us about that topic. I have some ideas about sun, earth and moon but I've gain more knowledge after this discussion. One of these days I found myself busy reading our encyclopedia stacked in our cabinet. I enjoy reading facts about this. My favorite part in this topic is about Tides.

Tides is the rise and fall of the sea water due to the gravitational pull of the sun and the moon. There are two kinds of tides, the Neap Tide and the Spring Tide. Neap tide occurs when the sun, moon and earth are at right angles. Spring Tides occur when the sun, moon and earth are aligned.

We've enjoy this lesson too much. Thanks to the effort of our teacher. We didn’t find it boring.
